Performance and Scalability are two important key aspects of a system. 

Are they mutually exclusive or not?

It is kinda debatable.

Some people say “We can achieve high performance and scalability using Modern technology”.

How do we know if a system is suffering with performance problems?

There could be two scenarios:

• System is slow for a user (It is a Performance Problem)
• System is slow for multiple users (It is a Scalability Problem)

So, a scalable service should serve more units of work and should handle large units of work when data size grows.
